Tax Exemption Donation FAQ’s
Income tax exemption is like a legal discount on the money you’re supposed to pay in taxes. It helps reduce the amount of your income that’s subject to tax. Depending on the type of income you have and specific rules in the Income Tax Act, you could either pay no tax on a part of your income or get a lower tax rate. These exemptions are there to encourage certain economic activities and support things that benefit society.
If you give money to a charity that’s registered under the Income Tax Act, you can lower your tax bill. It’s like a win-win situation. This works thanks to a section of the Income Tax Act called Section 80G. Just make sure you keep a receipt for your donation.
Section 80G is the part of the Income Tax Act that lets you subtract your donations to approved charitable organizations from your taxable income. The Al Ashraf Trust is one of these approved organizations, as recognized by the Income Tax Department.
When you donate more than ₹500 to the Al Ashraf Trust, you can lower your taxable income by 50% of the donated amount under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Plus, you’ll be helping to feed school children with your donation.
The Al Ashraf Trust asks for a minimum donation of ₹500 to cover the paperwork and, in return, you’ll qualify for a tax break under Income Tax Section 80G.
The maximum deduction amount varies depending on the type of donation. For some donations, there’s no specific limit, while for others, you can claim up to 10% of your adjusted gross total income for 80G deductions.
The maximum deduction amount depends on the category of your donation. For some donations, there’s no set limit, while for others, you can claim up to 10% of your adjusted gross total income for 80G deductions.
Yes, we provide tax receipts on request for your donations, and you can expect to receive them within 10 days from the date of your donation.
Cash donations over ₹2,000 are not eligible for 80G certificates.
If you make an online donation to Al Ashraf Trust, we will generate the tax certificate within 6 days from the donation date. After accounting for the courier process, it typically takes about 10 days for the tax exemption certificate to reach you. If you donate offline, it may take 15 to 20 days.
Starting from the 2021-22 financial year, Al Ashraf Trust is required to upload all donation details to the Income Tax website using Form 10BD and generate certificates as per Form 10BE. We will do this periodically and send an email to the donors.
If you misplace your tax receipt, we may not be able to provide a duplicate receipt. However, we can send you a copy of the Income Tax exemption certificate.
If you’re a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) with Indian citizenship and an Indian passport, you’re eligible for a tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Make sure to include your Indian PAN Card Number on the online donation form to enjoy the tax benefits. Feel free to contact Al Ashraf Trust via email for any further questions.
To claim deductions under Section 80G, you’ll need the following documents:
- Donation receipts
- Photocopies of the 80G Certificate
- The registration number of the charitable trust
Absolutely, you can claim a deduction under Section 80G through your employer. You’ll need a certificate from your employer confirming that the donation was made from your salary.
Donating to NGOs can provide you with tax deductions if the NGO is registered under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. Additionally, supporting those in need can bring happiness and a sense of fulfilment to your life.
When you donate to Al Ashraf Trust, you can reduce 50% of the donated amount from your taxable salary to avail of the benefit. For example, if your annual taxable income is ₹200,000 and you donate ₹5,000, your taxable income will be reduced to ₹197,500 (i.e. ₹200,000 – 50% of your donation). Your tax will then be calculated based on this reduced taxable income and the current tax rates.
You can receive 80G certificates for cash donations up to ₹2,000. If you want to donate more than ₹2,000 and qualify for 80G deductions, you should use a mode of payment other than cash.
